Faculty Positions​

In January 2020, the National University of Singapore announced the inception of the Department of Food Science & Technology in the Faculty of Science– an elevation from the earlier Food Science & Technology Programme that was established in 1999.

The new department is Singapore’s first Department of Food Science & Technology in the university sector. With this new department, there shall be a significant expansion in both education and research to help Singapore to achieve food resilience and security as well as to advance Singapore’s food industry. 

The Department of Food Science and Technology at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications from outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty appointments at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor levels. We welcome candidates working across emerging and interdisciplinary areas of food science, human nutrition, urban agriculture, fermentation, smart engineering and artificial intelligence (AI) whose research addresses current and future challenges in food, health and sustainability.

Application

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in a related field from an internationally reputable university. Postdoctoral experience of at least 2 years is required and industrial experience is highly valued. Appointee will be expected to establish an independent research programme that can compete strongly for external funding. In addition, the appointee is expected to guide research students, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate subjects. Selection will be based on applicant’s track record of relevant accomplishments and potential for outstanding future contributions.

Remuneration will be internationally competitive and includes eligibility for annual performance bonus and salary increment, subsidised housing, medical benefits, and substantial research support.

The Department of Food Science and Technology offers courses leading to B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. by coursework, M.Sc. by research and Ph.D. degrees. Currently, there are about 270 undergraduate students and 240 postgraduate students.
